Ocado’s in-house legal team approached Lexoo to scale-up its employment law capability during a period of increased demand for the company.

General Counsel Martin wanted to work with high-quality lawyers that could provide ongoing flexible support as needed. It was crucial for Ocado to be able to flex this resource to meet fluctuating demand.

"The platform that Lexoo has developed is very easy to use and intuitive, enabling very fast and effective communication. Using Lexoo has been a seamless and stress-free experience and helped us at a point of increased demand without added complexity or difficulty."

How we've helped

We secured four partner-level lawyers in under 24 hours for Ocado. All four were now working on a low overhead basis, and as such were able to charge 45% less than the wider market, despite having worked at Magic Circle firms and in-house roles at Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan.

Ocado engaged an ex-Linklaters and Pinsent Masons senior lawyer to provide a mix of on and off-site support for three days a week. Within 10 days she had joined the team at Ocado and was advising HR, managing external counsel and providing a valuable employment law resource.

Senior Legal Counsel, Martin Boyle, said she had provided “fantastic” support for his team during a time of increased demand: "She has been able to hit the ground running, getting up to speed on our ongoing work, our culture and our approach to risk. The quality of her work has been very high..." adding that this was exactly what he had expected from Lexoo.
